Caldwell 21 (NGC 4449) is an irregular dwarf galaxy in Canes Venatici. The sketch was made from my suburban backyard just outside Ottawa, Canada on June 19, 2014 in graphite on white paper. The sketch was then scanned, cleaned up and inverted in Paintshop Pro. The view is through my 120mm f/8.3 achro refractor at 77 X. I completed the sketch using my non-dominant eye 6 days after cataract surgery. With the new lens this eye is now much sharper and brighter than my dominant eye.
I got a quick walk up the hill behind the house this afternoon with 8×32 Nikon binoculars, I scanned for Venus at 16.20ut and was surprised to see a very thin crescent moon in the same fov, also even in the binoculars Venus was a sharp and beautiful crescent, I walked home quickly and made a memory painting in watercolours to try and capture a totally exquisite sight đ

Hi Asod! This is my sketch of a very unusual object! A quasar, in the constellation of Virgo. It was very difficult to find it (mv=13), but I was able to read my star map. I observed the Quasar with my Dobson 10″ from San Severino Lucano (ITALY), a very dark sky.
I realized the sketch with a black ink pen on white paper, then inverted.

This is a fine but fainter copy of the more famous M. 27 (Manual)!

This first International sun-day was a good time to show the sun to the public, today in the north hemisphere the day is much longer than the night. The day before, the local radio broadcast make our promotion. With the local association âAAPâ (Association â Astronomie â Provence) of Varages we had good time and very nice public. Despite the fact that the sun was quite calm, we can show a very tiny archipelago of sun-spots on the middle of the disk as well as some spots neat the limb. Anyway, the proms make our day; they are much more attractive for the public today.
To sketch the H-alpha part of the sun (here the portion out of the disk) I used a Coronado 60mm refractor with a focal length of 1000mm ; for the inner portion, the disk in Wight Light, I used my 102mm refractor, same focal length with glass objective filter.

Hello friends of the dark side,
here is my second comet sketch. I drawed P 168 Hergenrother at the 19. October 2012 between 22.15 and 23.00 p.m. The brightness of the comet is near 11mag. It shows very nice in the starfield.
I used my 115/805 TMB APO with the Baader Zoom ocular (8 – 24mm) and the 22mm Nagler ocular. I know, that it is very difficult to fix the fine nuances of the comet tail with the pencil, but I donÂŽt wipe at my sketches.
O.k. so I hope, that my result satifies you.
