The painting was made when i bought my first telescope (70/900 skylux) and i was very delighted with the beauty of the moon. So I study it for couple of nights, and with a bit of help of moon photos from the internet and map with the moon i painted two moon’s. This is the first one. And it took me two weeks to complete it fully.

Lunar Horizon Landscape

Lunar Landscape
Lunar Landscape

The most wonderful, amazing observation experience in my whole life was this, one of my 8″ refractor observation of the lunar near-horizon landscape, ….this imagination scene.

In the 82 degree bino-eyepieces some 30-40 lines group of villages of parallel mountains or canyons was seen,

it was some resemble the villages Grand Canyon in the Arizona USA .

I was regettable could not leave some fine detailed sketchs because the sketching only one of the lines of mountains -canyons need one or two hours work and ofcourse the lunation every month disturbed adequate shadow angle plus an amater,s observing time is limited , did not show me again the unforgettable scene that night .

I hope I ,ll challenge again with my newly projected equartorial machine bigger brother of 8″ and will leave some sketchs the whole scene [landscape area 300 x 300 km ].

Object Name : night sky
Object Type : Planets, stars and moon
Location : Montréal, Canada
Date: October 29th 2013
Media: pastel, white and pink gel pens on black paper

Unable to sleep I decided to get up early on October 29th. It was 5:00 in the morning and the air was crisp but the sight was absolutely gorgeous. I decided to get my pastels and try my best to represent the ambiance and colors of the scenery. Mars was at the left side of a crescent moon and Jupiter hanging high at the right hand side with Castor and Pollux (Gem)

Crater Parry

Crater Parry

Hello friends of the stars,

on 15th August, I decided to make a lunar crater drawing. It was the first in 2013. I was even a little scared and realized when making the drawing, that it was not so easy on the hand. The edge areas also act somewhat coarser than usual, but overall I was pleased with the “Parry”. I noticed this crater is, as it almost appeared hexagonal or honeycomb.

The air was in the low-lying moon of course not the best.

Waning Crescent Moon – August 1, 2013

In this year’s my vacation, I stayed an observatory.
The sky was not clear, so I drunk until dawn with my friends.
AM 4:00, I lay visitor’s room, and I saw cloudy moonlight outside of the window.

It was very fantastic! I drew a picture using my smart phone immediately.

Crater Albategnius

Crater Albategnius
Crater Albategnius

This sketch is centered on the large walled plain crater Albategnius (135 km.). The well illuminated inner and outer rim margins appeared very rugged in contrast to the smooth floor interrupted by the off center mountain casting a large shadow. A sizable portion of the western wall was destroyed by crater Klein (45 km.). Klein also has a central peak which was overtaken by shadow during this observing session. Also visible in the sketch on the eastern side of Albategnius are craters Ritchey (25 km.), Hind (30 km.) and close by Halley (36 km.)

Sketching:

For this sketch I used: black Strathmore 400 Artagain paper, 8”x 12”, white and black Conte’pastel pencils, flat white paint, pink pearl eraser and blending stumps.

I was lucky enough that a second consecutive clear night allowed me to study these craters again; this time they were on the terminator and the whole scene looked very dramatic, enhanced by the long deep shadows.

Best regards and clear skies,
